Match Report

-v- The Grove at Hall Place, Bexley 6 September
Prematch
Having had the better of our previous encounters with Grove, without breaking the three match sequence of draws, the skip was determined to redress the situation with an outright result. With the fragrant aroma of Wadworth 6X still flaring his nostrils, Spuds long run of misfortune with the coin finally came to a close. The Match More through the history of our previous meetings, than any thought of the pitch condition,The Grove were asked to bat, thus removing the possibility of any staunch rearguard action to save the game. Through a most complete bowling performance, we comprehensibly skittled the oppo, with all six bowlers used marking their card. The skip completed a run of dazzling spells with match figures of 4-13,as Grove finished high and dry on 83. GT rode bareback over any potential takers for Darkies opening slo and made nonsense of the quite resonable bowling, with a controlled knock, that threatened a speedy kill.Even Chucks, with his usual tally-ho style was forced to play second fiddle as the Skinless Wonder answered all the skips early season criticisms over attitude and application.Limp finally played the sort of ridiculous shot that we expect of him and the usual mid order toppling of dominoes followed, as we tried vainly to make it look as if there was more than one side in it. With the likes of Wilsdon,Moyse,Whale and Martin still to buckle their pads, the winning margin of five wickets, was put firmly into perspective. Was it really that close?? After Wadworths ran dry. Will we continue this fixture???
