Match Report

On the back of a very successful first season at the helm, little persuasion was needed to encourage Danglers to take charge, in his own inimitable way for a second season. Those that doubted his credentials were given an early opportunity to snipe, with the disappointing reverse against Brasted in the opening fixture of the year. A turgid unbeaten 78 from the skip set up an adequate score of 171 at tea, but Moysey's let it drift' style of captaincy and some woeful bowling from the 'Pressure release valve' and 'here comes my slower ball' Taylor, enabled our visitors to canter home with a couple of balls to spare. Inevitably the campaign to 'Bring back Webb' was resurrected emanating from a two-up two down somewhere in New Eltham. Even that master of Drifting Captaincy — Gordon — was mentioned as a likely successor. Never a club to bow to the knee-jerk reaction of their membership, a hastily convened extraordinary AGM gave Moysey it's full support.
