Match Report

Tuesday 21 May LBG Housing at Avery Hill Park
As per normal the side was brimming with confidence for our annual sortie into the Ray Willis Trophy. With all the glory hunters available, the skip was almost faced with ‘a who to leave out’ situation. Fatter than ever Rhino and Limper by the day Timms, adding to a healthy regular Crusader contingent, meant that we fielded a truly awesome nine man line-up. Gordon, still recovering from pulling his willy on Sunday and Nathan, too ashamed of his haircut at Jim’s wedding were the notable absences. We won the toss and stuffed the botts out of them. Mark raced away, while Steve tried desperately to register double figures. To no ones great surprise Steve was soon out and left Simon to make his second largest contribution to our brief history. He and Mark put on 96 for the second wicket, under the watchful eye of representative selector Delroy Donegal. After Mark was out for 93 the scores slowed and we finally reached 186-5 from our allotted overs. Despite some bizarre bowling, Housing never really mounted a serious challenge, although a few more overs from Fatboy Wilsdon could have made for an exciting finish. Pick of the bowlers were surely the all spin trio of Timms, Lewis and Whale from the trees end, whose mixture of leg, off, googly, chinaman and full-toes were a joy to behold. Being jolly chappies we had a drink with our oppo and wished them well for the rest of the tourney.
