Match Report

-v- Westcombe Parkers 9 August at Weigall Road Sports.
Prematch
The pre game pep talk seemed to regard more to what Daz managed to do last night, than what we intended to do to the Parkers.Losing the toss once more, the skip was enraged that Westcombe had the bare-faced cheek to ask to bat.On a humid and heavy afternoon we took the field concious of a lingering smell of penetrated gash, that appeared to following Danglers. The Match The odour did not, unfortunately provide the same stimulus as it had apparently done the previous evening,to our opening bowlers and Lardy and Deadsperm had to content themselves with economy rather than wickets. With Darren using an unusual lubricating agent,Spud was able to extract the maximum turn, with a glistening ball and proved pick of the attac with a 4-19 stint.Hopefully our lethargy in the field will be all used up by the time Tuesdays RW Final arrives,as we set new lows in ground fielding and our ability to catch straightforward chances. Daz and Chucks tied up proceedings, the latter bagging a two wicket haul in an incredibly accurate spell,as Westcombe set us a modest 115 for victory in 40 overs. The formality of just knocking off the runs, soon paled into insignificance as our modified batting lineup did a fine impression of a folding chair.Bill broke his run of noughts with a cunning single and Dasher Martin had time to perfect the play and miss shot, before playing the shot to an accurate ball. Darkie played his normal moody innings, bludgeoning a face-saving 36 that temporarily put us back in control. At the other end Tongue,Lardy and CoCo ensured that our middle order did nothing out of the ordinary e.g.- Score Runs.Chucks played himself in a la customary fashion and carved out a seasons best 12 before impetuosity got the better of him and he was caught on the leg side (unusual that !: ) Common sense eventually prevailed as the skip was joined at the wicket by Limp and the target was surpassed without further mishap.
