Match Report
Our second match was with the party-pooper’s of Phoenix. They turned out to have two particularly unpleasant chaps, who were hell-bent on inflicting personal injury on our batsmen. Wiser second time round, Spud gave Phoenix first bat and was rewarded by a more professional display from his ravaged bowlers. The oppo were unable to find anyone to piece together a worthwhile innings and were bundled out for 42 in just over 9 overs, with Nob taking 3-8. Our response was equally inconclusive and needed the cool head of Tubby Clark to see us home with a ball to spare. The first match was put into some perspective, with the last game of the series ending in a narrow victory for Phoenix, thus each team had won and lost a game. In hindsight, most people would rather have gone home, but that would have denied the skipper the immense pleasure of seeing his strike bowlers carted all over the shop.
