Match Report

Sunday 14 July –v- St John & Seal at Chislehurst
The return of Darth and the skip to the fray added numbers if not any additional prowess to our line-up. Fortunately Limp was unavailable for this one, as Seal emerged as a very young side, and could easily have been irreparably damaged by his gay antics.
During the toss it emerged that Seal had been dismissed for 15 the previous week and their lack of confidence was borne out when they asked us to bat first, Graham returned to more familiar scoring with a pitiful 1 and Mark looked sorely out of touch in making 5. After a rapid knock from Chuckles it was left to Danglers and Neil Clark to torment and tease the St John attack for the remainder of the innings; this they did with almost monotonous ease, smashing records as they went. When the declaration was made at 213-3, Darren had made 116(2nd Highest in club) and Neil a maiden fifty (68) in a partnership that was both a fourth wicket and club all wicket record of 173. After a first ball dismissal from L.S.C. the game was all but won and a liberal entourage of bowlers helped themselves to a fairly even share of the spoils. Highlights were excellent drops from Spud and Mark and the quite remarkable disguised spin of Taffy Jones. Spud finally cottoned on to the idea of catching the ball, to give John B his first club wicket and at the close the visitors seemed extremely pleased that they had passed the one hundred mark We all enjoyed Daz and Neil getting jugs in at the Bull and congregated with the kiddies in the garden to imbibe.
Pen Pics
J.C. -Looks like an expensive meal and lodgings for Jim in Bournemouth,
G.R -Proved his hundred was no fluke......Soon I'll wake up
MP-Lost none of his guile with the ball after prolonged absence since his catastrophic displays in the Ray Willis.
D.M. -Run a ball ton - was the bowling really that bad.
J.B. -Seems to have perfected the hoick to leg to such a degree that even he doesn’t know where it’s going.
N.C. -Confirmed his obvious ability with chanceless knock - grunted loudly when taking catch at first slip. Is this the sort of rude chap the club wants?
M.J. -Proof, if it was needed that the Welsh are shit at all sport.
S.C. -Two more wickets to send him surging up the averages.
J.C. -Kept a good line and length, especially the full toss.
C.W. -Another tubby performance, let down by some rank bad keeping.
S.W. -Suffering a confidence crisis and refuses to bat or bowl - still life goes on, unless your name is Terry Stephens
N.M. -Spectated.
