Match Report

21 June -v- Blue Bell Hill II at Chislehurst
Having conceded victory last year, despite scoring 229, the skip was in no doubt that BBH would field a strong side in an effort to redress the balance. Late withdrawals left Spud desperately dredging his resources to field a complete eleven. Eventually Lardy and Old came up with a player apiece and both were to provide good value to the side. As in previous games BBH looked well-schooled in technique, but found the going tough against accurate bowling and fielding of an unusually high calibre. The opener apart, BBH crumbled to arguably Darren’s best spell of bowling for a number of years and the tremendous support roles of Fox and Darth. The innings was closed, courtesy of Direct-Hit Wilsdon, with Darren bagging six wickets and our visitors teetering on 80. The skip, never bathed in confidence at our ability to accumulate even the smallest total, was perhaps in hindsight, a little over cautious in his batting order. After John Chucks made his normal nonsensical contribution, Darkie and Danglers competently compiled the remainder, scoring 36 and 31 respectively. Spud now unreservedly apologises to BILLY WEBB for not batting Daz lower down!!!
BBH did a vanishing act, which was a little disappointing, but the usual drunken debauchery was visible in the Bulls Head. Bill to his credit didn’t mention the skips tactics more than a dozen times.
